Hopewell in the News: Our Newest Home Featured by GuelphToday

We're proud to share that Hopewell is in the news! On October 14, GuelphToday's Santana Bellantoni featured our newest supportive home — the 11th home in the Hopewell family, and our second to open this year.

The fully accessible house will be home to four people in their early twenties, with move-in planned for early November. It was purchased with accessibility features already in place: a wheelchair ramp, lowered countertops, roll-in showers and a wheelchair stair lift.

As CEO Jessica Johnston shared with GuelphToday, opening two homes in one year isn't typical — but it is needed. More than 850 people on the Developmental Services Ontario registry are requesting supportive living in Guelph-Wellington, about 170 of them residents of Guelph-Wellington.

“Once you move into a house, it doesn't mean that's your house forever and always. It's about giving you the support so that you can be the best person that you can be,” Jessica told GuelphToday.

Every new home is powered by community. You can furnish a room through our registry, or give toward the purchase of the home and an accessible vehicle — visit our We Are Expanding page to see how. Thank you to GuelphToday for shining a light on supportive living in our community, and to everyone who is helping us open the next door.
