What the Hopewell difference looks like in practice
Specialized support. Full-life possibilities.
Designed from a detailed understanding of the person
We begin with how each person communicates, what matters to them, who matters to them, their routines, goals and preferences. Support, staffing and environments adapt to the person, not the other way around.
Support for varying needs
Our multidisciplinary team brings nursing, behaviour therapy, clinical education and direct support expertise to people with varying support needs.
Creating the next meaningful opportunity
Meaningful opportunities are shaped by what matters most to each person. Whether it's making more everyday decisions, learning practical skills, taking on valued roles, or trying something new, progress is defined by the individual.
Innovation with purpose
Innovation is only meaningful when it improves people's lives. We use technology, data and new approaches to enhance support, strengthen communication, and create more time for meaningful human connection.
Support through life's transitions
We adapt support around the milestones that matter to each person, recognizing that progress, autonomy and a life shaped by their own priorities will look different for everyone.
Advocating for better systems
We work with community, municipal, provincial and sector partners to address barriers affecting housing, accessibility and developmental services capacity.
About Hopewell

Our role in the community
Building capacity and inclusion across Guelph-Wellington
Hopewell helps people build full lives close to home, gives families practical support to keep going, expands capacity in response to the growing DSO Registry, and works with employers, municipalities, schools, businesses and community organizations to create real opportunities for people to participate and contribute.
Our legacy
Family-founded. Community-rooted. Growing alongside people since 1983.
Hopewell began in Ariss when the Oosterhuis family established an organization to support children living with disabilities. Over more than four decades, Hopewell has evolved into a lifelong support organization serving adults, youth and children across Guelph-Wellington, while carrying forward a foundation built on relationships, respect and full lives.
A goal you can help us reach
We’re expanding: help us open the next home
Our strategic plan sets a bold goal: at least five new homes, and wider access to the services that help people feel safe, supported and connected. We’ve opened the first. Now we’re opening the door to the next supportive living home.
